For the 9th time the Dutch MA Thesis Prize “Visions on Peace”
will be awarded to a Master student who wrote a thesis of exceptional quality in the field of peace and security issues.
This year 42 students submitted their MA thesis. By the end of November the jury will nominate three of them; they will be invited to give a presentation on their research during the award ceremony on the afternoon of 9 December. The winner will receive the prize of 1,500 euros.
Also the winner of the HBO (University of Applied Sciences) Peace Prize will be awarded, see www.hbopeaceinpracticeresearchaward.nl.
The ceremonies will be preceded by a keynote speech by Hugh Pope, Director of Communications & Outreach at International Crisis Group. He will deliver a speech on "Turkey and a Region in Crisis - How diplomacy can be made to work better".
The event will take place at The Hague University of Applied Sciences, Room 0v.3.3.7, Johanna Westerdijkplein 75, 2521 EN The Hague. Registration starts at 13:00 and at 17:00 the event will be concluded with drinks.
The MA Thesis Prize “Visions on Peace” is a joint initiative by the Stichting VredesWetenschappen (Dutch Foundation for Peace Sciences) and UPEACE Centre The Hague. These organizations want to stimulate scientific research in the field of peace and security by awarding this prize. The financial reward has been made available by the ASN Bank.
