In 2011, UPEACE started its work in the field of peace building through sports and its incorporation into its academic and training programmes pursued by it. In April 2013, with the support of the Dutch Nationale Postcode Loterij, UPEACE implemented a 3-year field project in the Karamoja cluster in the borderlands between Uganda, Kenya, Sudan and Ethiopia.

The aim of the conference is to demonstrate through empirical evidences how “peace through sport and theatre” is one of the strategic tools for conflict transformation and to explore possibilities of cooperation with a similar approach for future innovative interventions.
